This morning started early with last minute packing and weighing of baggage.  We are amazed at how much we are bringing.  We have two suitcases, the bow case, the box holding my tripod, foot marker and all the stakes and tools, a tote bag for shoes and more, the camera case, my laptop case and one more carry-on for miscellaneous stuff.  We thought we’d have plenty of room for souvenirs, but I think we’re going to have to ship them home.

We left for San Rafael at 9:30 where we took Liza to her home away from home at Guide Dogs for the Blind.  This was a bitter-sweet beginning to our trip.  The kennel staff at Guide Dogs was so friendly and cheerful.  They answered all our questions and made note of all our directions for taking care of Liza.  Liza was very happy and excited.  I think she really felt like she was in a familiar place and was happy to be there.  I felt really good about that.  It was hard to say good bye, but she went off without a look back.

We then drove down the coast in the direction of San Francisco.  We stopped in Tiburon for lunch.  Courtney and I have fond memories of Tiburon because we spent a day there on our honeymoon.  We had lunch at Sam’s, which is a well-known restaurant in Tiburon, overlooking the bay.  The weather was beautiful and the crab cakes were delicious.  Of course, we had to stop at the local candy store for chocolates before getting back on the road.

We arrived at the Inn at Oister Point, our hotel in San Francisco and were able to settle in our room.  The room is very nice, with a fireplace and a beautiful view of the bay.  We have the windows open and the breeze feels so nice.  We have dinner reservations at 6:00 and will probably make an early night of it.  The hotel provides a complimentary continental breakfast which they will bring to our room tomorrow morning at 8:00.  The shuttle will take us to the airport at 10:15 and we fly out at 1:30.  We’ll see what adventures tomorrow brings!  Korea, here we come!
