Wednesday, October 10

Yesterday our Korean hosts took all the archers who had not gone home on an outing.  AT 10:00, we boarded four buses that took us to a Korean exhibition and craft fare.  Sarah walked with us through the exhibit and explained the various tools, instruments and traditional dress.  Then she took us to the craft area and helped us find some traditional items like card cases, scarves and “accessories.”  One of the other helpers, who Sarah calls my greatest fan, gave me one of these accessories that I will add to my quiver bling.  The bus driver, who gave me the tea set, gave me what he called a traditional Korean cross.  We then sat with Sarah and had a piece of chocolate cake and some water.  She said this was her favorite cake, but she was on a diet.

We then took a tour of a printing museum where they showed how the oldest printing press worked.  The printing is called Chee Chee (spelling?).

Next, we were treated to a traditional Korean restaurant where we took our shoes off at the door and sat on cushions on the floor at low tables.  We really enjoyed this meal.  Even Courtney was full when we were done.

When we got back to the hotel at around 6:00, we went right to our room to pack.  This was very stressful because we had now added several items to our stuff which we would have to find space for, not the least of which is the tea set which our bus driver asked me to keep forever.  We found out the bus would be leaving at 4:30 AM the next morning in order to get us to the airport 3 hours ahead of our flight.  We decided we better go to bed early so we would be ready to get up at 3:00 AM.

We were in bed by 8:00.  About 15 minutes later came a knock at the door.  It was Sarah with a box of Korean red tea for me.  I gave her my email address and we said our good byes.  We went back to bed and about 15 minutes later came another knock at the door.  It was another one of the helpers with hamburgers and French fries.  Courtney was very confused, but she wanted to know how many we wanted.  Courtney didn’t want to hurt her feelings, so he took one bag.  We weren’t at all hungry, and we knew Korean hamburgers and fries are not hot and are not any good, so he left it on the dresser and went to sleep.
